Records adds an extra s to the end of new props (already plural) names by Mïark

In the guide to inputting records it suggests inputting;

4rubberchickens - 4 rubberchickens

but when you do, it creates a new prop type with an extra s on the end (eg rubberchickenss) on the records summary table.

_{an extra s might be appropriate if one were juggling hobbitss or ringss, but for other props not so necessary}

I do know who you are (but actually only figured out that I knew you in real life earlier this year - that's the problem with internet aliases!)

However I'm not sure I have an email address for you anywhere.

I figured you were in the middle of updating a file due to the transient nature (and the fact that you were online at the time).

You know precisely who I am Richard! Either way I've made the contact me link much more visible (top link in the Edge stuff section on the front page) plus I've finally got round to changing the text on contact form for logged in users from the usual request invitation stuff presented to non users.

I already have display_errors set to 0. Most of the time it seems to work but sometimes it doesn't & ~~I haven't been able to work out why yet~~ I have just worked out why.

I believe the error was caused by you catching me in the middle of uploading a new version of the file in question.

Yup.

Looks like they are calling a script (http://subli.me.uk/cgi-bin/bristolhackircstats.rb) which returns that information in json format which is then posted on the page.

Is there such a script for ##juggling?

I think you can private message Orinoco using the Juggling Edge contact form www.jugglingedge.com/contact.php

Unfortunately, the link to the contact form is not visible in the menu bar along the top if you are logged in, maybe there should be a link to the contact form on the index page?

It worked the second time.

Aside 1: Probably worth turning off PHP errors to the browser and just let them go to the log file (security risks and all that).

Aside 2: I wanted to report this privately (responsible disclosure and all that) but couldn't find any way to privately contact anyone - is there?

For some reason the Webkit implmentation of contentEditable thinks it is a good idea to use <span style="vertical-align: super">abc</span> instead of <sup>abc</sup>.

Unbe-smegging-lievable.

Not sure how you managed to post that without a title either...

Unused duplicate events are added to latest activity box on front page by Orinoco

Your reverse engineering is not quite correct. The event listing is created regardless (this way I only have to pass a single & easy to defend EventID to the duplicate checking script rather than all the separate bits of data which includes lots of strings that are tempting to crackers). When you click the "Yes, ignore this listing" button the new event is then deleted.

It now also deletes the entry into the latest content list & also any user connections to the event as well.

It might appear that someone tried to add 27th Brussels Circus Convention to the events listing, when they were (cleverly automatically) informed a very similar event was already listed, they decided not to create a duplicate event - but the new event (they didn't create) is listed in the Latest Activity on the front page and of course the link goes nowhere as the listing was never created.

I'd like some way of having a live, "There are X people chatting right now, please come & join in", but I don't want to relay complete chat logs. I know you can't assume that anything you say on IRC is private, but IRC is alien to many people. Most people are used to Facebook chat & other IM programs which are private & they will expect & behave as if IRC is the same which is not.

I don't like the idea of intrusive announcements in ##juggling either.

With respect to the privacy thing, I guess it would require another bot to occupy the channel, who perhaps announced from time to time that chat was being relayed elsewhere, as well as appropriate warning messages in other places. Since it is impossible to regard any open IRC channel as remotely private I can't see it would cause a major shitstorm, so long as some effort was made to inform people periodically.

Erm... yes.

The <strike> tag was supposedly deprecated in html 4.01 in favour of using css text-decoration: line-through (which is what I've been using in my posts because I am a snob), most browsers do still support the tag though.

What we are supposed to be using in html5 is <del>. I've just put in a fix that means that <strike> will work.

May I take this opportunity to reiterate my opinion that the WYSIWYG editor is a disaster & the world would be a better off place without it? I can? Thank you.

I just posted a reply to a thread in which I used the source editor to place a STRIKE and /STRIKE tag pair. The previewer renders it as expected; but the final post doesn't.

WYSINWYG : What you see is NOT what you get - it probably shouldn't be this way. But I confess it may be more to do with me being a bit of a spazzer with regard to formatting posts correctly.
