Speaking of Bungay Balls Up...
https://jugglingedge.com/event.php?EventID=6049
Add yourself (in hidden mode, if you like) if you're coming along to this year's iteration of the world's longest juggling convention. #BBU2024 #BBU

Alas we can’t do BBU this year, as I’m taking an enormous 70 year old phone exchange camping at https://www.emfcamp.org instead!

We should be back at BBU 2025 though!

barnesy -

Is this a Bungay?

Just having a little play on Google Maps, I had a look at Hulver Farm. I've looked before, and have seen events there, but with the field configured in ways I'm not used to. But this time I reckon the picture was taken during a #BBU. But which one? https://www.google.nl/maps/@52.3944463,1.4552708,233m/data=!3m1!1e3?hl=en

Yes, I'm pretty sure it is! I *think* that's Monte right over the other side of the field with his kitchen, and he may remember which year that was, I'd guess four or five years ago.

The Void - - Parent

That's our bell tent by the hedge. Its first BBU was 2011. I think this is the same year that James took the aerial photos. Check your lifetime pass, Charlie, for the curved track leading across to Monteville.

The Void - - Parent

Yes, it's 2011: https://www.facebook.com/photo.php?fbid=10150182581931846&set=a.10150182574331846.302297.587106845&type=3&theater

Meanwhile, since the cricket season just finished (Up The Middle!), and I've just started thinking "Is it April yet?", that leads nicely on to "Is it May yet?".

It's too quiet...is anybody out there?

Oh right, juggling-related. I released a handful of previously unlisted videos with rough edits/executions that were meant as proofs of concepts/reminders to myself or fulfilling requests. Looking back on them, I was very pleased with some of the patterns/ideas, so decided to release them despite the very poor production quality. Here's one of them (headphone users, beware of 2:00):

I think I have enough material for a second squeeze catch video, following which I'll probably be juggling a lot less and may be quiet for a few weeks (thesis writing!).

Mike Moore - - Parent

Ooops, I should mention that the first bit was a response to a game of JUGGLE. The (IMO) cool stuff starts at 1:17.

I think most of the edge is sitting in a buttercup field in Bungay!

Indeed, I just got back this afternoon & under my own steam this year. Hurrah for the Ka!

Good luck with the thesis Mike, what's the subject?

Mike Moore - - Parent

The subject's (industrial) chemistry. Specifically, looking at how different combinations of heat, sulfur, and impurities affect the surface area of the product in the reaction NiO + H2 to Ni + H2O. Looks simple, but depends on many things!

Little Paul - - Parent

I got back about an hour ago, and have only unpacked enough to get the first load of washing in.

As much as I miss Hulver Farm already, it's nice to be home

noslowerdna - - Parent

Glad to see these videos deunlisted. Lots of good stuff. I'm sure I'll be coming back to them often.

Over the last year or so I've collected hours of practice/research video snippets to avoid forgetting pattern ideas. Hopefully some of that footage will also see the light of day at some point (not sure yet how to best present it).

noslowerdna - - Parent

Good luck with your thesis, by the way!

Bungay Balls Up imminent! In under a week, the serious business of enjoying the longest juggling convention in the world will be well under way. Make your travel plans, pack your bags, and limber up for many days of gaming, juggling, kiting, chilling, reading, sunbathing, seaside jaunting, woodburning, bake-experimenting, table tennising, photographing, and all other appropriate and non-appropriate activites. Here are some reminders:

The BBU website might help too.

If you've never been do come along & find out why the regulars love it so. No one can be told what Bungay is, you have to experience it for yourself.

can't wait. Maybe 2014 will be the year the big trebuchet will get built,I've not given up on the idea.

The Void - - Parent

So, what are your predictions for BBU15?

Little Paul - - Parent

Glorious sunshine and scorchingly hot weather!

barnesy - - Parent

My (indeed our) overdue return.

There have been a few changes at the farm this year, firstly farmer Pauls wife Sue has been very ill and has had to give up work.Paul has had the builders in and has renovated the old unused part of the farmhouse for Tobias and his wife to be to move into.
I was there last week because I was working in the kitchen at St Peters brewery,I found Paul welding up an old hinge which had been broken since the 60's. He claimed that the hinge and door had been in use since the 1850's.

#Lestival5 was good fun.

Act highlights for me were Jamie Fletcher's hilarious/brilliant 3 ball routine (excellent knee-dancing that man!) and Dave Bonkers Kelly's ball tricks and racket-and-ball stuff. There was one 5-ball-and-2-rackets-in-one-hand trick that had be bemused and amazed. But the show highlight for me was Guy's compèring. Hilarious, bizarre and measured at various times, his cotton-wool transformation from Guy to..... Er... Guy (!) , and his Fledgling Bird act will live long in my memory.

On arrival, I was asked to run a workshop (in kendama, and not Eurovision, as I originally confusedly thought), and got some raffle tickets as a reward. One of which was duly transmuted into a box of posh chocolates later. :-)

Pete and Jay managed to spend 5 minutes putting a downer on the show with their L!-organisers resignation, when it could have been done in 60 seconds in a more joyous manner. However, ave atque vale to them both for the last 5 years.

Great coffee, company, kendama, cake, and couches. Cheers all!

#bbu next....

I also had an excellent time and would echo the Void's comments re the show, great to see Guy Heathcote on stage, how big must his wardrobe be? and Jamie, fantastic routine.
I hope someone does take it one next year as its one of my favourite venues having pretty much everything you need for a one dayer.
