#CroydonJugglingClub

All,

I'm sad to announce that Tuesday 17th December will be the last formal Croydon Juggling Club meeting (unless a new venue with a new volunteer (or team!) to run it can be found). The Church has put the rent up so much we cannot afford to keep the club open :(

This Tuesday we'll be having a bit of a send off though and we're inviting everyone to bring and share food, drinks, photos, memorabilia and anything else appropriate to come and help celebrate 23+ years of the club.

Everyone is welcome, hope to see you Tuesday (8pm, Croydon Minster Church Hall).

That sucks, but then you really can't trust organised religions further than you can throw them ;-)

Good luck with finding somewhere else. I need to pull my bloody finger out and do the same here in Leicester - we haven't met for a year and a half now!

"you really can't trust organised religions further than you can throw them "

But there's nothing concrete to even be thrown :D

except maybe all that money.....

Bummer! 23years is a bloody good run, it's a shame to hear of another long lived club losing its venue.

First Jacksons Jugglers, now Croydon Juggling Club, we are losing one London juggling club a month; at this rate by next christmas there will be no London juggling clubs left!

Congratulations on keeping it going for 23+ years, I hope you have a good party and hopefully find a new venue and new team.

Good luck in finding a new venue, we were lucky in finding a new venue round the corner when we were thrown out of the cemetery after meeting there for 15 years. The new venue is much warmer, but doesn't have the amazing ceiling height the cemetery building had.
Best of luck and congratulations on reaching 23+ years.

I'd heard that the people who run the venue had landed a ridiculous price hike with no notice from Sam at Hastings. Sorry to hear that negotiations obviously fell on deaf ears & I hope their hall sits empty & costs them lots of money. Hope you find a new place soon.

Why would Sam not have given them any notice? How mean of him.

I saw on the UK news that there was an attempt to beat the world record for the most people simultaneously juggling with a 100 clowns, www.itv.com/news/granada/update/2013-06-14/juggling-world-record-attempt-at-blackpool-tower/

I don't understand this as the previous record was ~ 1700 people juggling, set at Edinburgh EJC at the turn of the century, which beat the Baltimore IJA record of 524 people juggling. The Edinburgh record was on the Guinness Records website till a few months ago at www.guinnessworldrecords.com/records-1/most-people-juggling-simultaneously/ - do Guinness just take old records off to encourage people to attempt new ones?

Wasn't it Baltimore - Glastonbury - Edinburgh? (With Glastonbury and Edinburgh being about a month)

And you thought a 10-ball juggler was rare? Now there are 100-clown jugglers, apparently. Wow.

Maybe they are very small clowns?

I did a search which turned up this article :
https://www.blackpoolgazette.co.uk/what-s-on/going-out/calling-clowns-and-jugglers-1-5742995
which states that they were "planning to break a Guinness World Record for the number of clowns juggling simultaneously."
This makes it sound like the jugglers involved have to be clowns. I wonder if there is some sort of clowning certification that would have to be checked to ensure all participants were indeed clowns? or some standard of clowny dress to be satisfied?

Maybe I'm being pedantic but to my mind such things are important if you want to distinguish from the above-mentioned EJC record!
