There's a proposal for BJC2016. The proposal itself can be found here:

https://www.britishjugglingconvention.co.uk/proposals/bjc2016/perth-scotland/

THIS IS NOT AN ANNOUNCEMENT OF BJC 2016. It is just a proposal at this stage. If there are any other alternative teams interested in running BJC 2016 (2017, 2018, 2019...) NO MATTER HOW TENTATIVE please make yourself known.

Ideally it would be better to have more than a year to organise a BJC, so rather than waste 6 months waiting for BJC2015 to come around the potential 2016 team are getting early. The website https://www.britishjugglingconvention.co.uk/ is intended to be a single neutral location to host proposal information & has a dedicated forum for the discussion of all proposals.

50m^2 is probably not what the proposal should read.

Just pretend that that sentence makes sense.

I think that's been changed now... I'll be honest, I was checking the formatting over anything else! Left the words to Ron!

Delegation, that's the sign of a good organiser, well done!

mrawa - - Parent

Yep, I'll just code the pretty things...

Orinoco - - Parent

Heh! I haven't actually read the proposal myself yet. Perhaps I should...

So why the need for yet another domain.

www.thebritishjugglingconvention.co.uk has been around a good few yrs now

Mini, after speaking to Emily, I was under the impression that she wanted to use that front page just for the Wiki only. My strength of knowledge on setting websites up and being able to have access to adjust them is really, really weak, so may have not been able to describe the idea perfectly to her.
I'd be really happy to have the site on www.thebritishjugglingconvention.co.uk - it was my original idea.
Ideally, it would be transferred (pointed?) across to there and then the remaining website can be used by the 2016 team, if they want it.
I purposely didn't choose to have 2016 in the name of the website, as I wanted it to be neutral and really didn't want anyone to think just because we were putting a proposal together online, that we had assumed that we were going to win as we had the website already.
I also wanted the site and forum to be available for future years if they ever needed to put other proposals on, which is why I think it would be perfect for the above website.

I read "So why the need for yet another domain." as, we should have everything in one place online for BJC related things! I totally agree (if this is what you were meaning) and hopefully we can. Please feel free to email me so we can discuss getting it in one central place.
Cheers,
Ron

thats all really easy Ron.

your site is just a wordpress site. its a ten minute task to install another copy of wordpress and then maybe an evening for you to copy/paste the relevant info accross.

your spot on with my question about domains. i think the wiki has been in place now for long enough that a LOT of people know of its location and its domaain, i host that whole thing anyway and more than happy use it as the central repository for anything BJC related.

whats your email address dude

Regarding this, why not have all BJC websites as subdomains?

Mini - - Parent

No reason at all.

Available to any that ask

I didn't even realise that it was a different domain until I read this post earlier today. I had assumed that Ian and Emily had created a new look website. I even tried my old password from the last time there was a vote!

It would have made sense to use the existing website that has been around for ages. Sub domains is also an excellent idea, perhaps the reason it didn't happen was the usual reason, a lack of communication.

Time and resources were the issue. There was no guarantee that the dependencies required for the site would be available or would have affected the Wiki. Plus I like to add new features to things I'm working on, and if I can't control the system (e.g. PHP settings) then it gets tricky.

That makes a lot of sense Ian.

I suppose having control is a valid reason for most choices like this.

Hooray. The last Perth BJC was really good. Here's a chance for the people who were silly enough not to go last time to make up for it.
