Ahoy! I'm new to Juggling Edge. I'm jacob, I live in Australia and I've been juggling for almost five years now. I can get 1359 catches with 3b cascade, about 500 with 4b fountain, about 100 with 5b cascade, qualify 6b fountain, and I can flash 7b cascade and 8b fountain. At the moment I'm focussing on getting more consistent 5b cascade and 6b fountain. I'm also learn some more advanced 3b tricks to add to my repertoire. I look forward to posting some records here maybe and discussing juggling with many other like-minded people!

I forgot to say, but I'm in the Flispside Circus performance troupe here in Queensland!

Welcome, Jacob!

I'm always happy to hear that people are interested in advanced 3b stuff. Have you looked at https://www.libraryofjuggling.com/ ?

j.acobramis - - Parent

I certainly have! And I love it :) It's helped me learn many new tricks

Hi Jacob,
So, what's wrong with clubs then? ;)

j.acobramis - - Parent

Absolutely nothing! I'm training 4c fountain at the moment :)

Hi Jacob, welcome to the Edge.

So what has spurred your renewed enthusiasm for juggling?

j.acobramis - - Parent

Well towards the end of last year I knew I'd be starting circus training the next year and so I made a goal; to be able to juggle a 4b fountain by the time I started training, (I made the goal because that way I would fee like I'm a 'good' juggler compared to the other people there haha). I succeeded, and in the midst of all that rapid learning I watched a lot of videos and read lots, this made me realise how amazing juggling is and made me want keep getting better, so I did! I'm now in the performance troupe, which I'm pretty proud of considering I'd started circus only six months prior, and have learnt a lot more! I also went to MJC a several weeks ago which encouraged me even more!

I'd not heard of Flipside Circus before. That is a very impressive looking facility.

Little Paul - - Parent

It does indeed! I've been having a flip through their youtube channel, and it looks like they're turning out some pretty decent skill levels as well.

One of the videos (I forget which) has a clip of a plate spinning act which I'd love to see the full version of, as the sticks are really long and all the plate spinning seems to be done by a kid standing on someone's shoulders.

Which is an idea I really like!

j.acobramis - - Parent

That act is alays a crowd-pleaser! That young kid is working on getting nine plates spinning at the moment :)

It's a great facility! There's lots of space and heaps of different apparatus

Yay! Another Australian :)

I quite enjoyed your act at MJC, it looked very well rehearsed!

Will you guys be coming to the Newcastle Juggling Convention?

Orinoco - - Parent

I was very excited to see that Matt Hall was coming to Newcastle. Then very disappointed to learn it was a different Newcastle!

Adrian G - - Parent

Haha, I always find it weird hearing about places in the UK with the same name as Australia then having to remind myself that we just copied it... I had this the other week when everyone was talking about the convention being in Perth.

But yeah, I am definitely looking forward to seeing Matt again, even though he does seem to be the 'standard' guest choice in Australia (all major conventions here will have had him attend at some point after next year)

Little Paul - - Parent

If you're going to fly someone in from overseas to be at your fest, I think Matt Hall gives you an awful lot of bang for your buck!

Shows, workshops, washing up - sometimes it's hard to get him to stop being so damn helpful!

Adrian G - - Parent

Oh, definitely, Matt Hall is amazing as a guest - it's just that everyone gets him now so I don't get to see/meet as many other awesome jugglers and guests...
