So much dedication for an actor to invent a whole new genre of object manipulation, just for a movie clip!

That's Bowie for you
It's not his hand doing the contact btw, but some juggler's, i saw in a documentary .. but that's not important.
Yeah, 'some juggler'. He'll probably never make a name for himself...

How much screen time did contact juggling get?
Featuring a skill in a popular movie can increase general interest. Interest in naval aviation increased after the movie Top Gun was released. Archery is more popular because Katniss Everdeen shoots arrows in the book/movie series The Hunger Games.
How was contact juggling affected by the release of Labyrinth?

CJ featured prominently in several scenes, and was noteworthy enough that information about it was featured in pretty much every behind-the-scenes promo segment.
I remember "how did Bowie do all that stuff on labyrinth" was a common enough question on rec.juggling that it became a standing joke (tendrils... Obviously)
I think it gave the skill enough public exposure that a generation of CJers of a certain age would probably quote it as their inspiration.

Also, superstar Old Skool panellist Toby Phipott was one of the lead puppeteers on Labyrinth ... besides being Jabba The Hutt in Star Wars.

true story.
That's all of it in LP's link - around 30 secs.
Hard to know how much effect it had. Moschen developed his act in the 1980s. He had already performed it on TV (Paul Daniels' Show) in 1983, 3 years before the movie came out.
James Ernest released his book in 1990, so there must have been a fair amount of interest by then. No doubt some of it came from the movie.
Sorry, my mistake. There's one other (very brief) scene, the roll down the arm to the hand that you see Moschen struggling with in the "making of" clip. The crystal is thrown to Huggle and turns into an orange. It's probably 5 seconds worth.

There's another scene where he's palmrolling 4 balls

I think. I can't actually check at the moment...
Perhaps I'll watch it tonight.
