Small Talk

If it's a bit quiet today that may be because everyone is at BBU 2013, Kinetic Fire 2013, Forchheim Juggling Convention, Ann Arbor Juggling Arts Festival, 3rd Annual Sturtevant Camp Juggling Festival, Bibasse, Schokon 3, ŻeLKa, 27e Nederlandse Acrobatiekfestival or Fiesta dei Folli.

Big drop in activity there!

If you've stopped chatting, why not pop up and tell us why you've stopped?

I think the lower post count is partly due to the fact that I've ironed out a lot of bugs, so there is a lot less to complain about now.

I will throw in some random problems if things continue to slide.

...& as ever I'm doing my best to ensure the word count is high.

finals, summer, ..
I've been studying for the last weeks and now it's summer.
Expect me back somewhere in the second half of september.

Apathy, and not being bothered to watch videos.

Apathy. I have seriously considered putting my juggling bag in the loft.

Pardon me for taking a full fortnight to respond to this, but that is symptomatic of the Edge for me - I've tried it for a while but I just can't seem to make it gel, it somehow doesn't quite fit.

Although I intend to keep an eye on the place, my visits are already quite irregular and an interval of a week or more between visits is probably the norm now. Reading this thread today was the result of checking in and discovering 150+ ST posts and around a dozen from BT. And of course a half-arsed lurker's reading habits tend to lead to half-arsed lurker's posting habits as well, i.e. little and infrequent.

I've already spoken to Orinoco about this, albeit briefly, and I'm afraid I haven't got a handful of pixie dust to make everything better, and the truth is that I'm not even sure why I'm failing to engage with the place, but failing I am. And that's despite the fact that I've backed the Edge as being the most-likely candidate to replace r.j for me.

So, I've stopped because ... well, not sure really, but I don't seem to be finding the motivation or inspiration I need. But there's one thing I know I would like, although I can't guarantee that it would actually work : A much more compressed overall view. I'm used to reading r.j on a newsreader, where the overall view of threads and individual messages covers a lot of ground and gives me a good feel for the big picture. I'm used to browsing reddit obsessively, partly because the link view (as opp. the comment view) crams a lot of stuff on one page. I don't know why I find this a good thing, but I do, and personally I'd recommend it for a place such as the Edge too.
