Small Talk

If it's a bit quiet today that may be because everyone is at BBU 2013, Me Río del Valle or London Hoop Fest.

Back to Small Talk

There is a new podcast about juggling and manipulation called Do Things With Stuff. It's made by Kyle and Brian and others at the Vulcan in Oakland, California. There's only one episode out so far, and I've not listened to it yet. I'll do a small review here when I get to it.

I've downloaded it, but not listened yet. 53 minutes. Hmmm, I'm busy, where to find the time...?

I'm halfway through downloading, looking forward to listening this weekend. It strikes me as a US style Ministry of Manipulation.

I have to say their implementation of Google Calendar is a lot better than my effort.

I was impressed.

I put this on as background listening for a spot of 3 ball play. There were a few muffled bits which could easily be sorted. I managed to adapt to the accents quickly. Content wise I found it very interesting.

Well worth the 3 day download. Will do so again.

it was yellow on light green until I marked it as read. I'm not sure which was worse!

The Markdown reply module is broken, so I'm doing WYSIWYG.

This is a pretty good episode, certainly for the first attempt! There are issues with the audio quality, most notably Brian sitting way too far way from the microphone, which causes weird differing levels in the volume.

The content is interesting. I liked the segments about props, the interview with Bronkar about breaking an endurance record, and the general chat at the beginning. The report at the end about alternative training spaces was good too, but I was unsure of the definition of "alternative". Living in Berlin, the Katakomben or any other studio space isn't considered alternative, it's just the place where people train. Me and a few other professionals are considered to have alternative places, due to having a juggling studio in our apartments.

I've subscribed, and I'm looking forward to the second episode!

Oops, Markdown fixed.

Perhaps 'dedicated juggling studios' would have been a better description of the spaces they covered.
