O.o_0 I don't find that funny as I was hoping for a fun warm-up

7b_wizard on 7b_wizard's log 2024-02-06
Haha, thanks! .. ( but it's all 'practise' lots 'a fails, often droppy )

Steve Newby on 7b_wizard's log 2024-02-06
Wowzers dude! Keep up the good work :)

Ji ning zhang on 7b_wizard's log 2023-06-26
Thank you for your explanation. I see.

7b_wizard on 7b_wizard's log 2023-06-26
..oh... and with what I do, very droppy flashing 9b or shorter runs of 7b, a lot of time goes into picking up drops.

7b_wizard on 7b_wizard's log 2023-06-26
An example: you don't hold a bucket full of water, a big framed oilpainting far ahead of yourself, its mass center far in front of your own mass center - why then do so while juggling and hold your pattern too far ahead?! T h a t bears tension and a much higher risk to overstressthe shoulder.

7b_wizard on 7b_wizard's log 2023-06-26
..Going for a smooth pattern, softer ado, with least necessary effort is also not only healthier, but more beneficial for improving.

7b_wizard on 7b_wizard's log 2023-06-26
..but in decades of practise (I'm near 60yo), I have learnt to always try and not exaggerate sudden correction throws that are risky and could overstrain a musclefibre, sinew or ligament. ..[ff]

7b_wizard on 7b_wizard's log 2023-06-26
I actually sometimes do have my shoulder aching, and can still maybe juggle 7b or 5b or even only 3b. But .. [ff]

Ji ning zhang on 7b_wizard's log 2023-06-26
Hello, let me ask you a question. I see you often practice for three or four hours. If I train like this, my shoulder will ache. How did you manage to train for such a long time without shoulder pain?

7b_wizard on robin48gx's log 2023-03-15
However, rethrows are sooo important to get past flashing, so you're on the very best way! :-)

7b_wizard on robin48gx's log 2023-03-15
{ff} ...in this latter case, you'll still have to find a viable pattern that you can keep up for a few rounds; andor to learn to launch right into such viable pattern.

7b_wizard on robin48gx's log 2023-03-15
• If you're just getting them (forced, wanted) while pattern becomes collapse-bound: no.

7b_wizard on robin48gx's log 2023-03-15
• If you're in a good pattern: yes.

RegularJugular on robin48gx's log 2023-03-15
3. Take a deep breath in before the flash, breathe out when starting. More for getting past 20 catches, maybe worth a try occasionally.

RegularJugular on robin48gx's log 2023-03-15
2. Throwing without neck following the props upward? if the first one is too high compared to the others your pattern is unlikely to be able to keep a steady rhythm and so you would likely struggle to get past 6...

RegularJugular on robin48gx's log 2023-03-15
Exercises for Issues I had when I was starting 5b: 1. Throw Higher? Throw more consistent rhythm or height? - consider how high you want to throw, place that area in the centre of your vision then start to throw every ball to that height without moving your neck.

RegularJugular on robin48gx's log 2023-03-15
While perseverence is the most vital thing, height, shape and rhythm of the pattern are also useful to consider ( & more difficult to explain in text )

Maria on Maria's log 2022-09-30
On 5c height? When I have access to juggling space with that high ceiling, I want to use the time for club juggling. Since it's only once a week... And no, I don't really have control on 4b siteswaps. But thanks anyway. :)

7b_wizard on Maria's log 2022-09-30
Hi, I have yet another idea, given you feel control on these: to do 4b-552 andor 4b-5551 ... on 5c-height!? { just my brainstorm }

7b_wizard on Maria's log 2022-05-18
hi, mmx1 when new are airproof ( unless stepped on ), so can pump up and become bouncy, when weather gets warmer ( ~≥20° C ). Sometimes, pushing the plug out and back in can help.

7b_wizard on 7b_wizard's log 2022-01-04
Thanks man! Still a lot to improve, much more fluent, sophisticated, stable, ..

Jamie on 7b_wizard's log 2022-01-04
Looking good!

7b_wizard on Maria's log 2021-09-25
caught by knob still counts as "dropless" (unless that's below your demands)

Johnathan Mundell on Johnathan Mundell's log 2021-08-04
9 ball flash was really clean

Uhtoom on Uhtoom's log 2021-08-02
Nope no traffic control of any kind! and to be honest i got one of those jobs where i work until i'm done so really only affect myself (=

7b_wizard on Uhtoom's log 2021-08-02
boss is standing right behind you right now looking over your shoulder while typing ;oD

Orinoco on Uhtoom's log 2021-08-02
Just checking, you're not an air traffic controller or anything like that are you?

7b_wizard on Maria's log 2021-03-28
ok, yeah, that's what I read, like we throw a tomahawk or throwknife, but up. .. It's not sooo far away a thing to do for jugglers, yet I haven't iirc seen 'em before.

Maria on Maria's log 2021-03-28
Wasn't sure what to call it, but it was the kind of throw that I would do if I tried to juggle clubs while laying on the floor. Also similar to a chop-pass but to myself.

7b_wizard on Maria's log 2021-03-28
"o-ver-head throw"!? .. now, that sounds very cool, good idea, have to try it

5balls on Maria's log 2021-02-28
Oh, it is in the Highgate Collection? I should have checked before. Thank you!

Maria on Maria's log 2021-02-28
Cousal diagram and description of this and many other patterns can be found in The New Highgate Collection: https://www.juggle.me.uk/passing/highgate2014-05-16.pdf

Maria on Maria's log 2021-02-28
Juggler A: ppsppsppspps. Juggler B: pssspsspspss. Juggler C: spspsspsssps. You can also think of it as the feeder passing inside, inside, self, inside, inside, self, outside, outside, self, outside, outside, self.

Maria on Maria's log 2021-02-28
Ooops..

Maria on Maria's log 2021-02-28
Juggler A: pspspspspsps

5balls on Maria's log 2021-02-28
Hello Maria, could you please explain the civil war feed? Not that I think I will have any chance to try it soon but it sounds intriguing enough to put it in the backlog of "things to try to juggle after the pandemic". Thanks, Florian

7b_wizard on EricS' log 2015-03-28
°cool° thanks for sharing! looked over them all, interesting.

7b_wizard on EricS' log 2015-01-17
(duplicate, I reckon)

Stephen Meschke on Stephen Meschke's log 2020-12-16
Yeah, I'll make some more log entries to clear things up.

Joerg on Stephen Meschke's log 2020-12-16
What does this graph mean? The position of selected jugglers in the Top 40 over the years?

7b_wizard on Maria's log 2020-07-26
yeh, I understand those initials, .. just that part sounded funky ;o]

Maria on Maria's log 2020-07-26
Wait, that's not what you meant... Uh, no song lyrics involved. No YouTube link...

Maria on Maria's log 2020-07-26
Haha, no, it is the initials for my passing partners. Didn't want to write out the names of everyone I pass with without asking for permission, though I guess my regular passing partners would be fine with that.

7b_wizard on Maria's log 2020-07-26
hey ho maria, that "with s and t"-part, .. is it a funky songlyrics? plz give youtube link x-D

Kyle C on Kyle C's log 2020-05-06
awesome, thanks @heydar!!

Heydar on Kyle C's log 2020-05-06
For 534, the 4 controls the timing a lot. It's possible to run it with the 4 at almost the same height as the 3, but it feels nicer and slower with higher 4s.

Juan Francisco Gottig on Juan Francisco Gottig's log 2020-04-20
Sadly wasn´t straight, maybe i should have clarified that ^^!

Orinoco on Juan Francisco Gottig's log 2020-04-20
You only need to do 23 minutes more to break the 5 club record ;)

Maria on Maria's log 2020-03-30
Thanks! I'm OK, starting to think my runny nose and sore throat is just allergies. Will try some pills for that and see what happens. (No reason not to juggle, but, well, motivation for solo juggling is low sometimes...)
