Trivia on webforums is a bit weird.
We can all google for answers! Also, many of us have read every single word that is written about juggling.. But I like the trivia idea! Perhaps we can find some harder questions together, and keep the easy questions for real life trivia?

Ooh! Now that's more like it. I don't know any of the answers off the top of my head, although I know where to start looking.
This has made me think though, it might be an interesting exercise to make up a set of "trivial pursuits" cards full of juggling trivia. Not a small task by any means , but it could make for a fun convention game or two.

Wasn't there a convention with juggler trading cards? Those could contain trivia... That would actually be nice!

That's also the first time I've ever heard Brian speak as well, and he doesn't quite match my mental image of him.

Q1 is more of a joke, since I have no clue about the correct answer. I was at one EJC where this happened, but then I heard it happened before already. I was not in Athens so this might be correct, but there is at least one more festival ;)
I was a (sober) witness to it on the last night of EJC 2007 in Athens. Twas an Irish renegade that went on for hours. Mostly usual crap. Then Joanny [who was the stage manager of the gala] decided to recruit some of the acts that he hadn't been able to see / enjoy to do some serious jamming.
I can answer two that haven't been answered yet off the top of my head. Mills invented Mills Mess (duh) and four club scissors. Sergie Ignatov Jr. invented the propeller props.

Mills mess of course, but the information about the other thing I had in mind came from you, David! Maybe I made a wrong assumption though.
I had no clue about dubE or 4 club scissors.
Sergei Ignatov Jr is indeed the current juggler who performs with propellers, but he is not the inventor... (which I can prove with both video material and a statement by Sergei jr.)

So my suggested answer that Steve Mills 'invented' the long handled clubs (which everybody juggles today) seems to be off. I blindly copied from "The first long handled composite clubs were created when Steve Mills took a set of Dube clubs apart and put in a longer dowel." but on the pictures you see many many older clubs that have handles even longer than the bodies!

I think it's a synch pattern: (lh front cross, rh backcross) (rh front cross, lh backcross)
I was under the impression that that was a butterfly variant, or maybe I misunderstand your description...
I've known scissors as synch, both hands throwing backcrosses (very collision prone)
Butterfly is still synch but alternates which hand is throwing a backcross and which is throwing a normal crossing double
Unless people have swapped around same names over here, which is very possible
I concur with LP. That trick has been known as Scissors at least since the mid-Eighties (at least in Europe). Jason Garfield tried to redefine it for the WJF - how silly. I've never heard the name Butterfly before, but your description makes it sound like the same trick as Scissors.
To me 'front cross' means something similar to under the arm but in the same plane as backcrosses, whereas what I know as butterfly has a standard crossing double not a front cross (unless that's another term that's changed...)
You're right about frontcrosses. Rewriting LP's description, Scissors is:
(RH crossing double, LH double backcross)(LH crossing double, RH double backcross)*
OK, yeah probably just some WJF terminology that filtered into the Australian juggling community...
Do you know the both throws backcrosses one by another name?
I'd call it Synched Backcrosses, but it's neither a widely done trick, or a widely known name, IMO.
Yeah fair enough, I suppose the fact that it's rarely done outside of WJF probably doesn't help...

Boris is the only one I know who did 5 rings around each arm on stage. Together with 2 around his legs that makes 12. This is not even half of the 'world record'.
This is probably the hardest question in the list. The last month I spend a lot of time finding every single thing possible on the internet about this trick and I found very little....
As for Q7 which nobody attempted to answer yet: This might be an easy question for a cyr wheel spinner, and a hard one for a juggler. I discovered about this when I met another contact juggler who recently started spinning.

This was my guess, but having never seen Marco's cyr wheel routine in person (especially with another cyr wheeler present - I've just about tried the German wheel at BJCs, the Cyr Wheel is a whole other ball game) so I didn't feel qualified to comment on how good he is at it. Look for the ReCircle project if you want to see examples of his cyr wheel stuff.

Cool! The online dictionaries are not very helpful in making a difference. At the moment I am learning to spin small hoops (50cm diameter, but made out of tubes) and I noticed that the jugglers call them hoops and the hoopers call them rings!
My own definition is that rings are flat and that hoops are tubes...
I am still hoping that someone gets the answer, because the person having the answer might have more info for my research too!

Q6: Propeller props are indeed performed by Sergei Ignatov Jr. as David Cain mentioned, but they were invented by his father, Leonid Ignatov. Very few people know that Sergei Ignatov (senior) had a brother Leonid who was also a brilliant juggler and acrobat!

The mouth piece connects to a rest that sits on top of the head, from which the main pole rises.
Besides "Le plus grand cabaret du monde" do you know guys some others tv shows hosting jugglers ?
I find it a shame that I didn't record all of them, they are pretty though to find once they are broadcasted. I got a few, but I think that there has been over 200 shows. Anybody recorded/downloaded some ?
The Slammer is a kids tv show here in the uk that has a lot of good spesh acts.

"for one night only" (on the UK channel ITV I think) had some good acts on a couple of years ago, but that's not an easy one to find either.
There's another, regular, big circusy TV show from France as well, but I can't remember the name of it.

In La Veillée des Abysses, there's nice club routine from Gaelle Bisellach,
In La Symphonie du Hanneton, there's a very nice non juggling routine, that I love,
In Au revoir Parapluie, there's no juggling.
All these shows are great new circus.

About le Cirque de Demain (also on Arte), they broadcasted a live show from the B program, not the A, so there's only a part of the jugglers (and according to what I've heard) not the bests.
