Hi I'm new to this forum I'm from Merseyside, I have been a professional Flair bartender for the last 7 years and I'm getting tired of the alcohol trade. I have been really getting back to juggling and transferring skills between the two. I'm currently working on getting five balls consistent. I'm looking to share my knowledge and learn as many new skills as I can.

Hi! Welcome!

If you've spent 7 years doing Flair professionally - you've probably got the skills to learn this routine, which you really don't see performed any more (I'm aware of one performer who does it)

Djeeses! .. on the edge of the plate .. didn't expect that to happen ..

Tom-Whit - - Parent

that's really cool using a pate instead of a tin, this is exactly the sort of thing I was looking for new ideas with new objects. thanks =]

Hi & welcome!
In your vids, you seem to be mostly really one with the props .. you got the `flow´! .. I like that handback-skipping the bottle .. Also like, including a few fails - it brings up that "Will he get this one?"-suspense. Great you're into Five! Also tricks with 5b .. did you fancy a first trick to try with 5b yet?

Tom-Whit - - Parent

Cheers, getting into making videos loads at the minute really helping my practice and form. I have been playing with 5 ball multiplexes and getting 5 ball cascades to have a longer duration. What's a good starting point as far as tricks go?

7b_wizard - - Parent

Guess, doing single reverse throws, .. maybe try claw one, or tennis. But I really found the splits very easy more than anything else with 5b (once, I got the horizontal spread well), yet - being multiplex - they don't convey the feeling of doing a 5b-trick.
A mastered cascade opens all the doors to what you do with 3 balls :o) Shouldn't be hard for you to get there!

I think I'm just going to up the practice time with 5 balls, getting to grips with it more lately so trying to introduce simple tricks should help with coordination and form, cheers Wizard =]

Welcome to the Edge Tom, & thanks for joining in. Can you do half showers with 5? That's probably the easiest first trick.

A nice easy trick that I don't see anyone else doing that I think is pretty cool is juggle five balls & start collecting in one hand but keep hrowing with the other hand, once you've collected 3 balls make the last throw with the other hand, pass the 3 balls across then resume the cascade as if starting from scratch. Siteswap should be something like this:

5555525[22]5[111][522]5[52]555555

(You can turn siteswap highlighting on under settings, if you have java available on your machine you will be able to click that pattern to open it up in JugglingLab to see what it looks like)

Got the half shower with 4 pretty comfortable so cant imagine 5 been that much harder. I'll give it a bash when I practice later
Think I know what you mean with the Siteswaps I'll check it out.
To be honest 5 cascade past 20 catches is annoying me at the minute, I'm seeing gradual improvement every day just need to keep pushing forward =]

I'll check the Siteswap highlighter out thanks Orinoco thanks.

It didn't work for me but I'll Check that Siteswap out =]

The Liverpool uni juggling society will start back up soon when term starts. There are no other flair people, and not all that many toss jugglers, but it's better than nothing

Tom-Whit - - Parent

I was going fairly regular at the start of last year but I work on that night now :( Over the last few sessions I went there was a few people starting to use flair more I hope that kept up =]
Thinking about going the Leeds convention this year at the moment if I can get the night off.

Mïark - - Parent

I hope you will be able to come to Leeds Juggling Convention it will great!

Do you want to lead a bar flair workshop/skillshare to make sure more bar flair happens?

Chris - - Parent

Did you write that "How to get there" copy, by any chance?

Tom-Whit - - Parent

No I have worked out where it is, but not how much entry fee is?

Chris - - Parent

Most (all?) 1-day conventions are £5-£10.

Tom-Whit - - Parent

That's not to bad at all, I haven't been to a convention before If I can get the night off work i will be definitely be coming to the Leeds convention =]

Mïark - - Parent

The "How to get there" should all be up to date (unless they've changed the buses again) - have you found a mistake?

Stephen Meschke - - Parent

There is a link to airplane pollution in the 'How to get there.' I have lost more than one good juggling pattern to a glimmering wide body airplane high up against a blue sky. They are very distracting, even for the greatest jugglers (7b. world record).

Am I reading too much into this, or is that article linked because airplanes negatively impact the juggling environment there?

7b_wizard - - Parent

Take it as a rare extra challenge and `catch´the aeroplane on top of your pattern ..

Tom-Whit - - Parent

I'm really gonna try to make it down.
I am happy holding a flair workshop I don't have many flair props at the min tho...

Mïark - - Parent

Cool. If you need to give your work loads of notice to get a night off there is a really good convention in January in York called Chocfest. There are usually quite a few jugglers from Liverpool coming to it.

There is normally a juggling convention in Manchester in October, but it sounds like it might not happen this year due to problems with the venue.

Tom-Whit - - Parent

I'm a bar manager so it is impossible to get holidays and events off, I'll check out the convention in York I don't see it been a problem getting a night off in January =]
